The cottage is 15 minutes from Digby, which has banks, a shopping mall, large super markets, including Wal-Mart, and all manner of other shops a night club, restaurants and bars. The wharf is home to the picturesque fishing fleet and nearby is the fishing museum. There is also a car ferry terminal, just outside the main town, for trips to St. John in New Brunswick. The cottage is 20 minutes from the main route to southern Nova Scotia, route 101, and just over an hour to Yarmouth.
Digby Neck was a notorious spot in days gone by for ship wrecks and also had its very own witches who lived at Thomas Cove, which is over North Mountain behind the cottage.
